Support Our Work
Firstly, we must thank all our Countryside Partners - the farmers and landowners - without whose generosity, understanding, and goodwill, this superb natural asset would not be so readily available to all those who love the countryside.
This project continues to benefit from advice and encouragement from South and North Ayrshire Councils’ Countryside Access Officers, Rachel Shipley, and Greg Brown; and support from Natural Scot, Visit Scotland, and the National Trust for Scotland.
On the practical maintenance side, we are indebted to suppliers Owen Kerr Signs, A1 Ironmongery, Bowman Garden Machinery, and Solway Recycling – for their service. And similar thanks to Prestwick Golf Course who donated a load of old railway sleepers now recycled into new steps and small bridges.
On the funding side in recent years, our huge thanks to Rotary Club of Ayr, Bryson Corbett Charitable Trust, Ayrshire Bed & Breakfast Association, Cunninghame Ramblers, Wm Grant’s Local Employees Forum, Paths for All, North and South Ayrshire Councils, North Carrick CBC, First Point Contractors, Ayr & District Ramblers, plus the generosity of many individual supporters - for donations totalling many thousands of pounds towards path improvements and upkeep.
For Path Maintenance – a special thanks to our squad of “Pathminders”, a group of 55-60 retired Rotarian and non-Rotarian volunteers, for their cheerful labour and practical skills on the chain gangs.
We would also like to acknowledge the tremendous support of the Alloway, Prestwick and Troon Rotary Clubs, our many farming partners, and hundreds of local volunteers, who join the ACP and Ayr Rotary in the Annual Ayrshire Beach Clean from Ballantrae to Largs. This event, supported by South Ayrshire Council, goes from strength to strength, having been held every year since 2007.
Finally, a special thanks to DevelopX Creative Group run by Matthew McColm, a talented young teenage entrepreneur, for designing this new 2024 Website - ably assisted by Charlie Steele our Webmaster and Gillian Craig our PR Manager. Also thanks to the many photo contributors: Jane Elder, Stephanie McInch, Sylvia Watson, Craig Lawless, Chris Ogilvie, Angus Hogg, Alister Firth, Mike Blair, Neil Beattie, and Jimmy Begg. And to all members of the Ayrshire Coastal Path Management Board for their unstinting commitment to the continued success of the Ayrshire Coastal Path.
James A Begg,
Rotary Club of Ayr
