Walking Summary

6.5 miles (10.5 km) / 3 hrs

An easy walk along the sand and pebble beach from the old fishing harbour at Ballantrae takes you to Snib’s Cave at Bannane Hill.

From here a section of verge walking is required before you reach the Russian Cruiser Varyag monument. Look out for cliff and shore breeding birds.

Lendalfoot - Varyag Monument (KA26 0JG)

Bus
Local bus service from Ayr/Girvan/Stranraer connects Ballantrae and Lendalfoot. 
Service every 2-3hrs.
Note that the bus stop in Lendalfoot is unmarked. It is called “Telephone Exchange” and is just over half a mile walk from the Varyag Memorial car park.
