Girvan Town Centre – Harbour Road Bridge – Harbour Point – Golf Course Road – Girvan Mains – Chapeldonan – Dipple Shore – Turnberry – Turnberry Bay – Turnberry Golf Course – A719 road – Maidens
Distance: 13.0 km = 8.1 miles Time: 4 hours
Walking Summary: Moderate/Difficult – pavements, minor road, farm track and wrack roads, livestock (bull pens), rough gravel and sandy shore. Three short Tidal Stretches.

Car Parks: Girvan Harbour and town centre. Turnberry (near A719/A77 junction) – Maidens Green.
Transport: Trains from Ayr and Stranraer (Web link). Good hourly bus service. Two-hourly bus service to Stranraer. (Stagecoach)
Historical: Roman Camp at Girvan Mains. Dowhill Motte. Turnberry Castle – birthplace of Robert the Bruce. Turnberry Lighthouse. RAF Memorial at Turnberry.
General: Ailsa Craig. FMC Bio-Polymers – the “Seaweed Factory”. Grant’s Whisky distillery. Coastal agriculture. Turnberry Hotel and Open Championship golf course.
Nature: Seabirds, seals, basking sharks, off Dipple Shore and Turnberry Point. Erratic glacial boulders on shoreline.
Eating/provisions: Girvan Town Centre shops, pubs and restaurants. Dowhill Farm Restaurant and Shop. Balkenna Tearoom. Turnberry and Maidens Stores and PO.
