Careful planning can minimize your carbon footprint. Make using the Ayrshire Coastal Path an eco-friendly experience.

Bus: Stagecoach and other companies provide frequent and regular services to all towns and villages en route.

Train: Scotrail Services from Glasgow to Stranraer cover all coastal towns south of Kilwinning, with a branch service from Kilwinning up to Largs. The service from Glasgow to Wemyss Bay covers the northern start of the walk. You may also consider Trainline for train and bus tickets.

Car: If cars have to be used, main roads running parallel the whole length of the coast provide excellent access.

Plane: Glasgow Prestwick Airport is only a few hundred yards from the Path.

Boat: PO Ferries and Stena LIne run from Cairn Ryan, Stranraer to Ireland; Calmac run from Ardrossan to Arran; and from Wemyss Bay to Bute. All these ports are on the ACP route.
