Well, the wind blew strongly as forecast but thankfully the rain stayed away from most of us and we all apparently enjoyed the fun and friendship.
This year’s big beach clean attracted 225 environmentally-conscious folk to tackle 21 beaches between Girvan in the south and Seamill in the north, thus helping to brush-up our spectacular coastline in good time for the summer season. These commendable individuals collected a total of almost 400 bags of rubbish along with sundry larger items which had been washed-up or abandoned.
Ayr, Alloway, and Prestwick Rotary clubs along with Ayrshire Coastal Path volunteers all helped to organise the big event with enthusiastic and essential assistance from the two councils, South Ayrshire and North Ayrshire.
Thanks are due to many, including various community groups, charitable organisations, youth groups, holiday-park owners, farmers, landowners and dozens of individual volunteers. All helped to make a big difference so WELL DONE TO EVERYONE involved – your time was indeed well spent.
