Well, the weather wasn’t as kind to us as last year and the teams south of Dunure were apparently showered on more than elsewhere but, nonetheless, this year’s event attracted 250 environmentally conscious folk to tackle 20 beaches between Girvan in the south and Portencross in the north, thus helping to brush-up our spectacular coastline. These commendable individuals collected a total of more than 400 bags of rubbish along with sundry larger items which had been washed-up or abandoned.
Ayr, Alloway, and Prestwick Rotary clubs along with Ayrshire Coastal Path volunteers all helped organise the big event with enthusiastic and essential assistance from the two councils, South Ayrshire and North Ayrshire.
Thanks are due to many, including various community groups, charitable organisations, youth groups, holiday park owners, farmers, landowners and dozens of individual volunteers. All helped to make a big difference so WELL DONE TO EVERYONE involved – your time was well spent.
