Well that’s it over for another year and what a year it was! Despite the ongoing effects of the pandemic, 305 environmentally conscious folk turned out on a glorious spring day to tackle 20 beaches between Girvan in the south and Portencross in the north, thus helping to brush-up our spectacular coastline. These commendable individuals collected a total of almost 500 bags of rubbish along with sundry larger items which had been washed-up or abandoned.

In tandem with the clean-up itself, Ayr Rotary Club and Ayrshire Coastal Path staged a public display on the esplanade at Seafield where numerous amusing and interesting encounters took place. All in all, a fun day out for everyone enjoying the welcome return of warm sunny weather after another testing winter.

Ayr, Alloway, and Prestwick Rotary clubs along with Ayrshire Coastal Path all helped organise the big event with enthusiastic and essential assistance from the two councils, South Ayrshire and North Ayrshire.

Thanks are due to many, including various community groups, charitable organisations, youth groups, holiday park owners, farmers, landowners and dozens of individual volunteers. All helped to make a big difference so WELL DONE TO EVERYONE involved – your time was well spent.
