Thanks very much to Firstpoint Flooring! Here is an excerpt from an email sent to Firstpoint by Trail Manager, Jimmy Begg.

“I was suprised and delighted to get a phone call the other day from Marion Young of SAC telling me that you and Firstpoint Flooring Contract Ltd had chosen the Ayrshire Coastal Path as the recipient of a £300 donation from your company, and that the money was due to be lodged in our account.

This couldn’t have come at a better time, as we have to raise all the money to maintain and improve the 106 mile-long ACP by ourselves, as the Path is managed and maintained on a purely voluntary basis by a Management Board of nine, and a group of 56 Pathminders who do all the maintenance work.

Recently, after a year of repairs and improvements, our maintenance fund (to cover costs of all materials and service of our brushcutters and mower) had dropped to just a few hundred pounds – and it takes at least £1500 a year to cover all these expenses and more. To pay for replacement signage and other big items we always need to seek grants from various bodies, and your donation of £300 is a big help and will be put towards the costs of replacement of four large information panels that are beginning to show signs of deterioration and need re-designed and brought up to date.”

Donations are always gratefully received, and allow the ACP Team to keep the Path in good order.
